Specifically, the death of George Floyd came after the July 2014 death of Eric Garner at the hands of the NYPD, the August 2014 death of Michael Brown by the police in Ferguson, and the November 2014 killing of Tamir Rice, a boy of 12 at the hands of Cleveland police. After this, there was the April 2015 death of Walter Scott by a white police officer in North Charleston, the July 2016 killing of Alton Sterling by the police in Louisiana, and another July 2016 killing of Philando Castile by police in St. Paul, Minnesota.
