    Common problems include applying policies equally and fairly. Often there is limited flexibility or none. When there are policies that are "one size fits all" it often becomes apparent that not all employees are the same and have the same problems, interests, needs, and skills. Mothers have children who get sick. Men have been called up to serve in the military. People have illnesses or accidents. When policies of absenteeism or tardiness are part of the organization and people have lives, there has to be a balance of application of those policies. The organization must come up with ways to help or address employees without creating more problems.
