The three basic research methods are: Exploratory Research, Descriptive Research and Causal Research.
I) Exploratory Research:
Exploratory research helps gather preliminary information that will help define the problem and suggest hypotheses. It helps to figure out the possible decision alternatives and the relevant variables that have to be considered. The different kinds of exploratory research are: Literature search, In-depth interview, Experience survey, Analysis of select cases, Focus groups, Interviews, Projective tests, Ethnographies etc.
