The word 'transformational' comes from the word 'transform', which means the state of change. 'Transformation' means a marked change, as in appearance or character, usually for the better. It is usually a radical change or alteration. Transformational means something that can effect a radical change which is usually good or better.
The word 'transformational' can be referred to a leader who is the kind of person who can motivate and inspire people to perform at levels beyond anything that they had previously thought possible. Such person can be called transformational leader. These transformational leaders empower others by keeping them fully informed on everything that affects their jobs. People want and need to feel that they are 'insiders', and that they are aware of everything that is going on.
