Home Depot has a large work force and it has developed strategies that aim at giving the company competitive advantage. Home Depot recognizes the importance of human capital in corporate success thus ensuring that its human resource is effective in promoting organizational success. The strategy employed by Home Depot in developing its human capital into resource that provides competitive advantage include attracting top talent from the job market and developing support systems that nurture the talent into leadership roles. The company has created various entry channels into the organization that attract individuals who are talented and once the individual becomes an employee the company has programs that enhance leadership and functional skills (Silzer & Dowell, 2010).
Home Depot recognizes that employees are essential component in determining organizational success since if hires and retains the best work force. Home Depot identified the fact that employees are the face of the organization since they are the ones who interact with stakeholders. Supervisor assistant manager and store manager positions are filled with competent individuals since they interact with company associates and customers (Silzer & Dowell, 2010). By having an effective human capital Home Depot gains competitive advantage since skilled and effective employees lead to improved customer satisfaction which in turn leads to building customer loyalty and this translates to continued organization growth and success. Home Depot will have competitive advantage by being able to satisfy customer requirements better than their competitors.
