1. Initial
This is normally used to determine whether the applicant meets the most basic requirement for a particular job. It is also done in order to get an impression on the applicant's appropriateness for a position. An example of this is when basically a job requires an employee to have a height of at least 5 feet to perform it and that without meeting the height minimum requirement it would be impossible to perform the task. As such, applicants will be initially screened in such a way that only those with at least a height of 5 feet will pursue with their applications.
