Wal-Mart Company is an American public corporation that operates a retail chain of large departmental and grocery stores all over the world. It is established by Sam Walton in the year 1962 and currently, it is a market leader in the retail industry in terms of sales and profit (Wal-Mart, 2010).
Budgeting Process
Budgeting process can be defined as the process that is used by the companies or organizations or government to create and approve a budget (Finkler & McHugh, 2008). In this case, Wal-Mart also uses a budgeting process within the organization to effectively allocate the available financial resources according to the budget estimations. The budgeting process of Wal-Mart includes four phases such as, policy planning, formulation of budget policy, implementation, and review of budget policy, auditing and evaluating the entire process of budgeting. Wal-Mart has prepared flexible budgets for each of the debarments and stores to calculate budgeted revenue and budgeted costs on the basis of the sales and activities in the budget period (Denhardt & Denhardt, 2008).
