In the last few years, their is an heightened increase in the global Mergers & Acquisitions activity, be it the high technology industry or other major industries such as Telecom, Pharmaceuticals, Auto or even financial services. We have seen mega mergers happening in the last few years, such as Sprint and Nextel or ATT and Cingular in the Telecom industry or between JP Morgan and Bank One in the financial services industry.

Even in the future, such industries and many other new ones will continue to be the target for global consolidation, be it telecom, Auto, Pharma, etc.

There are many triggers to factors contributing to the rise in M&A activity in the past few years. One reason for this increase is the continuing evaluation by companies relative to downsizing ...
