One of the major crimes prevalent in e-commerce today are fraudulent auctions. Auction sites like e-bay as well as others have become so large in size and number of auctions taking place continually, that the company is not able to oversee every auction. The customer purchases an item from one of the fraudulent auctions, and unknowingly pays for the item. The fraudster then receives the customer's money, and never had any intention on sending the victim any product in return.
