Understanding different cultures is important in today's society, as various cultures are the backbone of many businesses and many international conflicts. In America, women are present at the top of many companies and government positions. When doing business in Mexico, one will notice that women do not hold positions of authority in the majority of its corporations. "Mexican boards are less than 5 percent female overall, the Mexican companies represented on the Latin Trade list had 4.3 percent of board seats, or 20 female directors in 37 companies among 460 board seats."
