The issue that is being considered in the public policy analysis and planning is the environmental protection of waterways. The increased water pollution has raised the concerns of the administrators and the environmental policymakers to seek the ways of controlling it. Several research studies have been conducted in relation to the matter of water pollution. One amongst the most prominent research studies is the "Nutrient Pollution: A Persistent Threat to Waterways", which explores the new means to control the water pollution (Manuel, 2014).

In addition to these sources of water pollution, pet waste and atmospheric dispositions such as power plant emissions and vehicle exhaust are also the major contributors to water pollution.

Another research study on the issue of water pollution was found as "Something in the Water: Contaminated Drinking Water and Infant Health" (Currie et al., 2013).
