Definition of goals and objectives:
The key goal is to minimize the harm to people and their property because of the flood.
The objectives of media relations plan are to inform the people of the affected city about the locations of rescue & evacuation team and how to contact them. The media should communicate actions that people who are affected by floods should take, how they should preserve the emergency supplies they have access to, and preserve their possessions. The preparation for evacuation the affected people should make how they should contact authorities, and places where they can evacuate to. The media must communicate to those effected the areas that are close to the victims but not affected so that they can move to those areas(1). The media must communicate to those being evacuated, the essential items they must carry with them, before leaving they must turn off the gas, electricity, and water. They must be asked to turn off appliances to prevent electrical shock when power is restored, the designated evacuation routes, and low traffic routes. The people must be warned not to drive/walk across creeks/flooded roads.

Source of contact for the media:
The main source of contact for the media is the mayor's office. From this office press releases, rescue success stories, and articles will be released. In addition, the mayor will address press conferences at regular intervals to inform the press about the rescue operations. Apart from contact with radio, television, and press conferences, the mayor's office will operate round the clock a center for communication through the digital media. The social media will be monitored, whatsapp messages will be sent to the residents of the affected area, and mobile phones of specific areas will be sent text messages will be sent giving information and instructions (2).
