But social media is also a big source of mis- and disinformation.

The Jim Mulder story in this week's readings show how a small dog grooming company was inundated with angry and vile comments because of a single, inaccurate post on Facebook.

What recommendations would you make to your commanding officer if your base's social media account(s) contain posts (perhaps a lot of posts) with misinformation?

If the base's social media account has several posts with misinformation, I will recommend to the commanding officer that Facebook should be informed of the false news posted on the base's website. Facebook should also be provided with the list of persons who have posted the misinformation so that they are not allowed to buy ads on Facebook. Moreover, Facebook should apprise fake accounts used to post on the base's social media account and ask Facebook to use machine learning to stop the plethora of misinformation on the base's social media account.
Also, I will recommend to the commanding officer that he should allow my team to take action on the posts with misinformation. My team will take several steps to address misinformation on the base's social media account. My team will first identify all the posts that have misinformation on the base's social media account. Next, my team members will ask the person who created the posts to either edit or delete them ...
