In order to effectively run the business, senior managers must first define and communicate the organization's strategy and goals. Without a clear direction, employees would not have a common purpose to work towards. A vision of the company's future must also be established, as senior management will determine the best strategy and tactics to obtain that objective. Senior management must also have a sound understanding of the business' operations.
