He must understand how to use computer hardware & software. He must be able to connect, access, and use browsers. He must have the skills of using online communication tools, and research libraries/databases. Further, an online student must be an independent learner, self-motivated, and should have time management skills. He should have strong reading and writing skills as the communication will be through written text. He must be self-disciplined. To help build a multidisciplinary approach to health, the student must learn how to interact with and collaborate with other practitioners. The multidisciplinary approach is a team approach, so the student must develop communication skills, learn to access the full range of therapeutic options, and learn to comply with national standards of health care. The student must learn to listen carefully to patients and interact with them meaningfully in discussion relating to their care.
