    I have a recently established consulting firm that primarily works within the field of supply chain management. I am finding the task of incorporating sustainable development concepts into the business to be very challenging.

    Please help me to better understand how I can go about building human capacity within the consulting firm so that employees are better able to participate in sustainable corporate venturing and ecopreneurship.

    What type of systems thinking might I consider that help promote actions that will more positively support change initiatives in the firm?

    For example, what are some of the major theoretical underpinnings best suited for creating a sustainable learning environment in the firm?

    What are some of the more successful strategies for learning that I may want to introduced into the sustainable development processes?

    Should I be aware of any HR initiatives that may affect the outcomes of integrating ecopreneurship within the business?

    Sustainability should be embedded in each aspect of organization's core strategy, philosophy, culture and working practices to foster ecopreneurship and sustainable thinking among the employees. The organization's existing processes and systems should be reengineered to ensure that the impact of organization's activities on the environment is minimal. The management as well as senior employees should reinforce the importance of sustainability in each aspect of organizational decision making and plans to the employees again and again via written and verbal communication. Employees should be provided extensive training on sustainable practices, their doubts and apprehensions should be resolved via effective communication and effective support system should be in place to assist employees in making sustainable business decisions.

    Overall, the organizational culture should foster creativity and provide adequate flexibility with responsibility and authority to empower employees in day to day decision making regarding sustainable practices. At the same time, effective control mechanisms should be put in place to ensure that employees are not misusing such flexibility and the decision making and actions taken by the employees adhere to standards/policies laid down by the organization's strategic planning ...
