As society continues to evolve, the different platforms in which training is conveyed to employees of organizations are changing as well. The computer age has brought more cost-effective ways in which organizations reach their employees to conduct new or refresher training. One such organization is that of the U.S. army. The army is an organization that doesn't implement any type of training prior to effective research being done before implementation. The army now uses web-based training to conduct refresher training and familiarization prior to attending a residential course. This form of training was made into doctrine, based on a study done by Robert Wisher (U.S. Army Research Institute) and Tatana Olson (Purdue University) in 2003. This work was deemed "The Effectiveness of Web-based Training".
