As manager of a retail store, I have a case of racial discrimination and one for disability discrimination. The differences that may exist in how to approach investigating each case is that with racial discrimination, there would be an investigation as to any witnesses, verbal abuse, any job refusals, any ethnic slurs, or comments by anyone connected to the company as a whole and even if any customers said anything to which an employee agreed.
The disability discrimination could be addressed by contacting the company physicians to examine the employee. Normally, there are three physicians the employee can pick from to make it fair. In addition, the employee can submit information from their own physician as far as to the disability.
