The organization I work for aligns business and IT in part: the business is supported by data driven by the IT department. The concern, however, is that data appears to be flowing at such a tremendous rate that, at times, it is difficult to extract meaning from the data to make informed decisions. This is a problem in part because new reports are continually being requested to respond to an executive's whim, but almost as soon as the report is generated the need is forgotten. Our IT department understands the business and has adequate staff to produce and perform tasks. IT has definitely supplied the organization with the big picture of the corporation, what we need is a focus, which a performance dashboard system would offer. ...
