External publics are the target audience, secondary audiences, policy makers and gatekeepers. There are several ramification of ineffective communication to the external publics. At the inception, the organization that makes ineffective communication is perceived badly. If the company is involved in a crisis, the external publics come to blame the company/organization for the disaster. For instance, if some miscreant has tampered with a medicine produced by a company, the company will be perceived in bad light if there are ineffective communications. On the other hand the reputation of the company will be preserved, if there is excellent communication.
