Marketing has a broad meaning in itself. Some people think that marketing and advertising are similar but both the concepts are entirely different from each other. Advertising is a single part of the marketing. Marketing is concept that is related to the product and people. It is a concept which comprises the need of people and fulfills their requirement by serving the products and services as per their requirement (Kotler & Keller, 2006). When the company matches the level of requirements with the customer, it uses this concept to retain them for long term. There are various researchers, who have defined Marketing in their own way but all the definition predicts the same meaning.

First definition of marketing that is I am going to present is given by Philip Kolter "satisfying needs and wants through an exchange process" (What is Marketing? N.d.). This can be understood with the example of eBay. This company uses the marketing to satisfy the need of the customers though the online marketing strategies. Wal-Mart is also one of the best examples that are used marketing and its strategies to attract the middle class customers, who want to use luxury and quality items with cost effective prices (Kotler, 2002).
