We would expect that eating a salty meal would, therefore, cause a slight dehydration in the body tissues, including both intracellular and extracellular fluids. For the most part, extracellular fluids will be depleted before intracellular fluids, since the sodium/potassium pump is still operating in the cells to maintain proper salt and water balance in the cells.
