You are provided with the following two mouse libraries:

    - a genomic library in a bacteriophage lambda vector with inserts prepared from muscle cell DNA
    - a genomic library in a YAC vector with inserts prepared from liver cell DNA.

    a) Would you expect any differences in the types of DNA sequences represented in the two libraries? Briefly explain.

    b) Would you expect any differences in the sizes of the inserts in the two libraries? Briefly explain.

    Solution Preview

Since both libraries are genomic libraries and not expression libraries we would not tend to think that the libraries will contain significantly different DNA. After all, genomic DNA from one cell type is pretty well the same as genomic DNA from another cell type. Expression or cDNA ...

    Solution Summary

The solution discusses the types of DNA represented, as well as any differences in the sizes of the inserts in the two mouse libraries.
