The myth that the people are using only 10% of their brain is supported by the thoughts that only 10% of our brain 'cells are neurons, while the other 90% are glial cells who have the role of supporting the neurons, but actually have unknown function. Another thought is related to the fact that the weight of brain is only 3% of the human body's weight and is using only 20% of the energy emitted by the body.

The analysis came from the book of James, W. (1907) „The energies of men", who argued that "We are making use of only a small part of our possible mental and physical resources". The statistics number was the difference in means between country people and city people with respect to the use of their brains.
