Non-parametric tests
Non-parametric models differ from parametric models in that the model structure is not specified a priori but is instead determined from data. The term nonparametric is not meant to imply that such models completely lack parameters but that the number and nature of the parameters are flexible and not fixed in advance. There are some researchers problem apply non-parametric tests when assumptions are violated. Nonparametric tests are employed to test for differences between samples or populations for nominal and ordinal level data As the name implies, non-parametric tests do not require parametric assumptions because interval data are converted to rank-ordered data.
