Ethnicity is apparent when one is compared to others of a different ethnicity. This is especially true when the situation is viewed from people from within one of the two groups as opposed to an outsider. For example, I currently live in Thailand where I teach at an international school. When I look at the Thai people they all mostly look the same to me.
