For most citizens the security changes at airports and public events are the most obvious. Security checks at airports include going through all luggage at the discretion of the Transportation Safety Board (TSA) and to examine and x ray all carry on luggage before the person is allowed access to the terminals where planes load and unload. Restricted areas are more tightly monitored (in theory if not always in practice) and people who fly are more fully vetted before being allowed to fly (again in theory).
