Dave's mom was an alcoholic, his dad was an abusive figure who turned to cigarettes and gambling to 'escape' his realities. His parents married young on impulse and led a hard-scrape life but both stayed together even though theirs was an abusive relationship. Dave grew up angry and rebellious, in an environment at home that is one of desperation and enmity in a neighbourhood that is stricken with despondency, poverty and crime. It is my hypothesis that Dave's environment will shape him and as early as now the signs of his own substance abuse are present.
