When briefly hypothesizing why medication is typically not as successful when treating these disorders as opposed to psychotherapy, I attribute the nature of anxiety and its waxing and waning fluctuations over one's lifetime to the difficulty in solely using pharmacology. In short, the stabilization aimed at achieve by medication is difficult to attain in a full or perfect equilibrium.

Because anxiety is often associated primary or secondary and frequently interlinked to substance abuse, medical conditions, and a host of other psychiatric conditions, the overlap of diagnoses can also make medication treatments quite daunting at times.

Besides, anxiety is not merely physical in nature since it definitely involves not only dysfunctional cognitions but also social and emotional ramifications, such as modification of performance,decreasing avoidance, cognitive restructuring, the need for social skills training, relaxation and mindfulness building, etc. For these reasons, I regard medications as quite limited, since patients who suffer from anxiety must ascertain a chance to practice and overcome social situations that they are deem as unsafe and engage in therapy to learn that the assumed social costs of errors are much lower than expected or ...
