The idea of justice is not a modern phenomenon, in fact it has evolved over time as peoples and civilizations before us struggled to and came to practice actions, attitudes and instruments of an administrative, spiritual, economic and above all, political nature to institute what is fair, to keep order and in so pursue a path of development and peace in a territory composed of singular or diverse groups of peoples. This certainly was the case for Ancient Babylon under Hammurabi, the 6th King of Babylon who reigned from 1792-1750 BC who is known from his 'Code of Hammurabi' - the earliest surviving code of law in history. His territory was in a complex geopolitical situation at the time, surrounded by more powerful kingdoms (i.e. Eshunna to the north, Larsa to the south and Elam to the east).
