What is abnormal behavior? Simply put, it is those behaviors that are contrary to what we deem as 'normal' - they could be disturbing, socially unacceptable, stressful, stressing, maladaptive, destructive and distorted thinking. What we deem as normal is defined by our socio-cultural background. Abnormal behavior results from is framed by a host of factors - it could be mental illness from a medical perspective which can, for example be treated by the utilization of psychotic drugs. There are just some individuals born with biochemical disorders (consider ADHD or in pregnant women - post partum depression). Individuals affected in this manner cannot help but feel or act the way they do unless otherwise medically and psychologically treated.
