Informed consent is the voluntary agreement of an individual and establish rapport. This agreement provides the individual sufficient knowledge and understanding, risk involved, and possible benefits of the therapeutic process which gives an individual an opportunity to make an informed decision (Corey, Corey, Callanan, 2011). This document is given prior to or at the time of the initial intake session. The informed consent describes what is expected out of the client, fees, involvement of third parties and limits of confidentiality (Corey, Corey, Callanan, 2011).
