The clinical scientist (CS) model suggests that clinical psychology is based only on scientifically, empirically validated research and/or practice. It includes adhering to systematic reviews of evidence-based practices from a scientific perspective. Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an interdisciplinary approach to clinical practice designed to offer practitioners and/or clinicians the best treatment intervention approaches. Evidence-based practices are based on the following objectives: (1) to develop scientific methods that are subjected to scientific scrutiny as opposed to uninformed opinions, and (2) best practices that are compatible with the American Psychological Association (APA) ethical guidelines (Langer & Langer, 2000).
