Sandy did well with her education during what Erikson termed the Industry vs. Inferiority stage (as cited in Vander Zanden, 2007) of her life. During adolescence, Sandy saw her identity as a student. There was then a falling out with her like-minded peers, and she then made other friends. These friends were of a more rebellious nature, and thus at 17 years of age, Sandy began a struggle with Erikson's Psychosocial stage of Identity vs. Identity Confusion (as cited in Vander Zanden, 2007).
