Confinement & Development

Traumatic events in childhood are profound in that they can impact development. In this case, the event points to a 10-year-old getting trapped and in so doing made immobile in a place that is difficult to access. As such, the rescuers take around 10 hours to get to the child to and rescue him. This meant the child is immobile and alone in those 10 hours, where the child is solitary and confined and unknowing of the possibility of being freed. Without human contact, with the ability to move - one feels imprisoned, alone and develops feelings of hopelessness.
