Perception is our sensory experience of the world through using touch, sight, taste, smell and hearing as well as body orientation and information processing abilities. These allow us to recognize environmental stimuli and so react to them. This process is necessary for survival because of the information it alerts us to in our environment. These senses are used, in conjunction with our cognitive processes, to help us interact with others and objects in the world around us.
