Humanistic Theory- the belief that our motivation comes from our desire to fulfill biological needs then to achieve 100% understanding of ourselves (self-actualization). You're motivated to be the best person you can be.

Arousal Theory- you behave a certain way out of desire to increase or decrease levels of arousal. For example, people take a bubble bath to wind down or go running to boost arousal. This theory can explain why people engage in such activities as bungee jumping, watching scary movies, going on scary roller coasters or reading a sad story.

Drive Theory- you're motivated to do things that will help avoid internal tension that comes from having unmet needs. You're seeking inner calmness. For example, you eat a big dinner before leaving the house to avoid hunger pains or your stomach growling while you're out.
