I see with diagnostic terms is that they tend to pigeon-hole patients and clinicians tend to talk about the diagnosis, not the person. Statements like "she's a borderline" or "he's a paranoid schizophrenic" tend to remove the person from the picture. This process may tend to dehumanize the person.
