They instigate problems through bombings, paramilitary actions, and general acts of violence with the communities and government. They plan coups, instigate riots, and bring violence to the populations.

Often the militants demand that laws of Islam be strictly followed. They practice forms of Islamic laws promoted to create the most violence and punish those who do not conform to their beliefs. They wreak havoc on efforts to help the poor and those injured. They cut off power, communications, and supplies for people who need food and medical help. More importantly, the promote war, creating not only violence between people and government or different factions and ethnicity, they create massive numbers of refugees that hamper the neighboring countries, trying to provide for their own people.
