Probably first and foremost among America's global economic goals is to get out of the current stagnation. This is not necessarily "global" in nature. However, in order to compete globally we first must be strong domestically. The housing market, bad bank loan policy and the federal deficit are all areas that the nation needs to address. Social security and the welfare state are also issues to consider. In a nutshell, American politicians at both the national and state level need to learn not to spend more than the country receives through taxes and other sources of income. By curbing spending, the deficit will be reduced and the country will be returned to a more secure financial footing.
