Goodwill is a really good choice for an assignment like this. Remember, though, I cannot answer the question for you directly. I can only list out a bunch of ideas that can help you put something together.

I think one important way to proceed is to tease out the ethical concepts that are embedded in the Goodwill self-concept and mission.

One of the big things is stewardship. This is a view of property that states ownership being about moral virtue - not a legal claim. This is a non-profit organization, one of the most recognized in the US. The shopping is just the beginning - they also partner with the private sector and sponsor training programs for poor families (affecting about 4 million people as of last year).

The more I read, I see how Goodwill and the YMCA use almost identical language in setting out their goals. The only real difference is that the former deals with job training, while the Y does not.

They sold about $2.5 billion of goods last year, while government agencies at all levels contributed about $600 million overall.

They recently partnered with Bon-Ton stores.
