Given a distance vs. time graph (see below), make up a scenario that the graph could describe. Label the graph to depict what is happening and where you are in the scenario. Be as specific as possible.

Solution:

Marked in the graph are the different times where the graph follows a specific shape.

We'll use a scenario wherein you are driving a car starting from your house from the park. Initially, the car accelerates, so the speed is increasing. The distance increases much faster because the velocity is increasing with time. This continues until the car reaches the park at time T1. After reaching the park, you drove the car back to your home immediately, with the car accelerating. So the distance also decreases much faster because the velocity of the car is increasing with time. At the middle of the road, you stopped the car at time T2. The car remains parked up to time T3, so we see a flat line in that part, indicating that the car is not moving. Then after the wait, you drove the car back to your home at a constant velocity. This is shown by the linear graph of distance. The car reaches your home at time T4.
