    Graph both linear equations in the same rectangular coordinate system. Decide if the lines are parallel, perpendicular or neither parallel nor perpendicular:

    2x-4y= -16
    x-2y=2

    Solution:

    Let us write the given equations in slope-intercept form i.e. Y = mX + b where m is the slope of the line

    For 2X - 4Y = -16 , slope intercept form is

    4Y = 2X + 16
    Y = 1/2X + 4

    For equation X- 2Y =2
    2Y = X -2
    Y = 1/2X - 1

    Now, as we can see that the slope is 1/2 for both the lines, therefore the two given lines are parallel.
