Creating a Shape:

You will create a colored in, closed figure on a coordinate plane and then state the inequalities that allow you to create the figure. You may use the link and directions below to help you create your shape or you may use any paint program, power point, or graph the figure by hand, scan, and attach.

The following must be submitted:

1. The graph -a coordinate plane with a colored in, closed figure. Each segment must be labeled.
2. The inequalities -show the work for finding the inequality that defines each segment.
3. A reflection -write a paragraph, of 3 or more sentences, as reflecting on this activity and the final product. You may use specific questions to guide your thoughts, if needed.

This particular, colored in, closed figure will be in the shape of a diamond on the coordinate plane. The graph itself along with the figure, coordinates, and inequality equations belonging to each segment is presented and labeled, the shape itself is shaded in yellow (each segment is colored a different color along with its equation, so that it is easier to view and tell each equation apart).
1. The graph: attached in powerpoint
2. The inequalities: in order to find the line equation for each equality, at least two coordinates within the line must be chosen. Let's begin with the line that is shaded in red. You will notice that the line goes through various points on the graph, but let's choose two obvious and easy points on the graph: (-3, 0) (0, 3)
The red line passes through the x-coordinate -3, y-coordinate 0, and it also passes through x-coordinate 0, y-coordinate 3. To calculate the slope of the line (m) we use the following equation: y2 - y1/x2 - x1 = m
Substituting the y and ...
