Carolos Marighella was born on Dec. 5, 1911 and died Nov. 4, 1969 at the age of 57. Born in Salvador, Bahia (a state of Brazil), Marighella was born to Italian immigrants. Earlier in life, he worked as a Brazilian legislator and as a leader of the nationalist Communist party. He was a Brazilian revolutionary (guerilla) and he was also a Marxist writer. One of his writings, Minimanual of the Urban Guerilla, consists of advice on how to overthrow and disrupt authority with a goal of starting a revolution. Another book he wrote is For the Liberation of Brazil. His theories mostly influenced modern ideological terrorism. On November 4, 1969, Marighella was shot by police in an ambush at 800, Alameda Casa Branca, Sao Paulo.
