The introduction of medical robotics into the healthcare industry has had a tremendous impact on human resources and healthcare employees. The fact that robots require less training, cheaper maintenance, easier repairs, and are less prone to mistakes as a result of repetitive tasks has made medical robotics a major player within the healthcare industry. These medical robotics have been touted as the future for assisting elderly and chronically ill patients to assist in their home independence while reducing the necessity for home health carers or nursing and healthcare homes for these patients. The leading medical robotic company is da Vinci Surgical System, which has conducted tens of thousands of surgeries and was the catalyst for further advancements within the healthcare industry in regard to medical robotics. Since the advent of the da Vinci system, there have been numerous new robots introduced throughout the healthcare industry to help provide care to patients both during surgery and for remote healthcare.
