You are working with 5 or 6 year-olds. You want to develop a thematic unit of study that includes children's literature and media.
Identify the learning outcomes. Explain what you want your students to know at the end of the thematic unit.
Identify your unit of study or theme.
Choose a selection of at least five (5) books that best fit your purposes.
Include at least one media reference for your unit of study.
Identify each book by title and author, and explain why you have chosen these books. Keep in mind the interests of your age group and make your selections appropriate.
Because bullying is such a prevalent theme, I believe that early intervention is the best approach. Thus, you might build your unit around the theme of antibullying or tolerance.
