1. To me, I feel that the screenwriter or playwright contributes most to a film's overall success. I see the basic theme, characters, plot, conflict, and dialogue as highly essential to the film's overall development and impact. In other words, I tend to see these critical pieces as the foundation or building blocks that support all other aspects as they fall into place accordingly. If the story is strong, then I feel that all supporting elements (music, sound effects, characters, costumes) follow suit. In the film, The King' Speech, the story is so grounded and the dialogue is so witty, that all other aspects and traits tend to develop as outshoots. Does that help?
