Software reuse approaches include the idea of class libraries, reusable components, application frameworks, patterns, and service oriented architecture. This write-up estimates how much of an impact systematic use of one of the approaches would have on software development in an organisation.

Reuse of software is more of an organizational choice than an approach to software development. In some organizations the software is built with this approach to make code as reusable as possible and comparatively other organizations may just design and develop everything from scratch. The other reason for reuse is the types of IT projects and their size. If a company delivers similar projects then reuse makes a lot more sense to conduct and administer in a formal way.
