    2) Arrange the following oxides in order of increasing acidity.
    Rank from least acidic to most acidic. To rank items as equivalent, overlap them.

    a)Li or Be

    Elements become more metallic as they go down and to the left on the periodic table. Li will be more metallic.

    b)Li or Na

    Elements become more metallic as they go down and to the left on the periodic table. Na will be more metallic.

    c)Sn or P

    Elements become more metallic as they go down and to the left on the periodic table. Sn will be more metallic.

    d) Al or B

    Elements become more metallic as they go down and to the left on the periodic table. Al will be more metallic.

    2) Arrange the following oxides in order of increasing acidity. Rank from least acidic to most acidic. To rank items as equivalent, overlap them.

    CO2, P2O5, SiO2, CaO, SO3, Al2O3

    Oxides become more acidic as their central atom becomes more electronegative. Electronegativity increases as you approach F. The order of increasing acidity will be Ca < Al < Si < C < P < S.
